“Night Time Peace” by Kylie Nichole Medina

Category: Poetry
And I have always dreamt about peace;
Everyday wasn't always at ease.
For we dreamt of being escapees,
from this barbarous world that disagrees.
But I didn't sleep at night,
felt the need to overwrite,
All about the things I feared.
batteries drain on flashlight;
tried not to snooze while I write.
Writing made me feel alright,
Along with a quiet sight.
Then it clicked, I was at peace;
during at thought of synthesis,
that the mess finally ceased.
Skin got hit by a cold breeze,
Sat playing the DVDs.
Then said, "wow, I feel at peace.",
while eating a piece of cheese.

Parang ‘pag dating sayo,

City was lit up by the moon
To cover such hums of a crumpled racoon.
Giving it ample consolation
To flare up lingering emotion.
Such entity could become a coffee,
A fair mixture of bitter and sweet,
Gives warmth, yet bottled up with misery.
What a shame, none dared foresee a sight.
For a lamp, became lethargic
Unable to operate, aboulic.
Seeking a pristine battery
Hopeless, yet anticipates for recovery.
