๐๐๐๐ | "SucSenians showcase talents during English and Values Month festivities" by Ivy Dayanghirang and Hana Valle
๐๐ถ๐ค๐ข๐ต ๐๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ช๐ฐ๐ณ ๐๐ช๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐ค๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ญ- SSHS organized its first-ever celebration of the two events: Values and English Month this December 2024, where students from Science Technology and Engineering, Accountancy and Business Management, and Humanities and Social Sciences students participated in various competitions prepared by the school’s English and Socsi Department with the theme "The Power of Words: A Glimpse of Current Realities in Timeless Myths." The celebration featured the spelling bee competition, participated in by 16 students, and the impromptu speech contest, where 15 students took the challenge. Among the outstanding students, only 3 per event stood out. For the spelling bee competition, Al Rafie T. Dumarpa of STEM 1101 took the championship. Sid Antoine Araya of ABM 1201 then followed him in 2nd place, while Gabrielle Endrina of STEM 1102 secured 3rd place.
On the other hand, Reine Godfrey Alejandro of HUMSS was declared the champion of the impromptu speech contest. He was then followed by Rhevie Anne Escaรฑan of ABM 1201 as the 2nd placer, while Don Mikhail Bravo of STEM 1101 was declared 3rd place.
The Celebration also featured a Group Singing Competition, wherein learners from the strands STEM, ABM, and HUMSS, both grade 11 and grade 12, chose 8 representatives per strand, singing their rendition of the song "We Are the World," composed by Michael Jackson, showing off their talents and skills in music, which then concluded with Grade 11 ABM students claiming the award as champions of the group singing contest.
As a highlight of the English and Values Month, last December 10, 2024, student representatives from sections of each strand dressed up as Greek gods and goddesses and flaunted their impressions of their choice, which was hosted by Mr. Jhon Lheous P. Zurita and Ms. Josephine M. Nietes.
Representatives of the ABM 1101 strand were honored as 3rd runners-up, including Kenneth Caรฑete as Erebus, the God of Darkness, and Nathalie Cabacungan as Nyx, the Goddess of the Night.
The 2nd runner-ups, John Patrick Garcia from HUMSS 1201 and Kimmy Decipolo from HUMSS 1101, brilliantly depicted Ares, the God of War and Courage, and Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom, War, and Handicraft, respectively.
John Allyson Toledo of HUMSS 1101, portraying Eros, the Greek God of Love, and Medusa, one of the Gorgon sisters, portrayed by Michaella Sugian of ABM 1201, earned the title of 1st runner-ups.
Johamien Solaiman from STEM 1101, embodying Hades, the God of the Underworld and King of Death, alongside Krisha Marie Leosal, who represented Persephone, the Goddess of Agriculture and Queen of the Underworld, emerged as the champions and were crowned the god and goddess of myth.
The winners were judged by the esteemed SSHS teachers, Mr. Renz Joseph Cardeno, Ms. Marvi Salmingo, and Mr. George Endozo.
