Sucat Senior High School is the 29th public school in Muntinlupa City. The beginning of its establishment can be traced to the term of Schools Division Superintendent Mauro C. De Gulan who proposed a training facility for public school teachers in 2017. It gained a major boost when Congressman Jaime R. Fresnedi, the then-city mayor, purchased a parcel of land at Meralco Road, Sucat, Muntinlupa City in 2018 for the stated purpose. However, considering the need for additional senior high schools in District 2, Schools Division Superintendent Dominico C. Idanan proposed its conversion into a stand-alone senior high school for learners in Barangay Sucat and nearby communities. The City Government supported the move and funded a school building project completed in 2022.
While securing government recognition, Schools Division Superintendent Carleen S. Sedilla, CESO V, moved to open its doors as an extension of Cupang Senior High School. For SY 2022-2023, it accepted three (3) teachers and 30 learners under the Academic, Business, and Management (ABM) strand. Ms. Clarisa C. Avila, Public Schools District Supervisor, became its first-ever Officer-in-Charge.
With the permit application still underway, the extension status remained for SY 2023-2024, with nine (9) teachers, 110 ABM learners, and 93 Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) learners, under the new Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Evangeline P. Ladines CESO V. In January 2024, Dr. Jay Boy E. Evano, Public Schools District Supervisor, was appointed the new Officer-in-Charge. Dr. Evano continued the permit application initiative, with the City Government of Muntinlupa under Mayor Rozzano Rufino B. Biazon giving its all-out support--ensuring the completion of the groundworks, and providing other crucial resources including seats, laboratory equipment, and others.
With the strong backing from Mayor Biazon, Congressman Fresnedi, OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Violeta M. Gonzales CESO V, and Barangay Captain Rafael T. Sevilla, among other stakeholders, the school finally obtained its government permit on September 27, 2024. In addition to its ABM and HUMSS offerings, it opened Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). It accommodated nearly 900 learners for SY 2024-2025 and welcomed 30 teachers.
Sucat Senior High School--the school by the bay, creating bright futures!
